Agriculture & Rural Affairs Steering Committee

This committee is responsible for all matters pertaining to legislation affecting the economy of agricultural counties; rural development programs; and conservation and environmental programs affecting agriculture. In addition, the committee is responsible for oversight of platform amendments and resolutions from other steering committees that have a significant impact on rural counties.

The “minibus” FY12 appropriations bill, signed by President Barack Obama Nov. 18, contains three of the usual 12 annual appropriations bill and provides $128.1 billion in discretionary funding.

Rural innovation roundtable focuses on county-led efforts

NACo supports all titles in the reauthorization of the Farm Bill, but NACo’s key priority focuses on advocating for a bill that provides enhanced resources to rural development programs and policies.
