NACo presidents select critical issues they will address during their one-year terms. Some past Presidential Initiatives have included counties and their role in health care delivery, the prevention of human trafficking, green government and immigration reform.
This year, NACo President Lenny Eliason's key initiative will focus on "Healthy Counties," a county by county public awareness campaign to promote healthy living and lifestyle choices in communities across the country.
He will also continue NACo's efforts to raise awareness and understanding of America's counties through the "County Government Works" campaign and promote innovative programs, services and benefits for the nation's military, veterans and their families.
